I recently downloaded a new version of the HP Support App. to my HP Spectre.  It works fine EXCEPT it does not provide device specs.  I chose the device specs option and a windows with a continuous circle appears.  It continues with the circle.  I 've let it run for prolonged periods.  I top it and try again.  I've rebooted but the results is always the same.

What should I do to rectify this problem.

Thanks

Welcome to the HP Community --

There are 52 model series listed as "HP Spectre"

Most / All of these might be older models.

Perhaps the HPSA cannot find the information you seek.

?

Regardless, there are other methods to see the devices on your system.

The following are standard - no third party software used -

============================

Method - Use Device Manager to examine Devices

Device Manager is available in the Control Panel and in Computer Management

Examples

Control Panel or Computer Management access to Device Manager

Right-Click Windows Start in Taskbar > Computer Management > System Tools > Device Manager

Right-Column > More Actions > View >  Select View by action types

OR

Control Panel > icon view > Device Manager > Tab View > Select View by action types:

Select Show hidden devices

AND

Select one of:

  Devices by type

  Devices by container

  Devices by Driver

  Drivers by type

  →  → Drivers by device

  Resources by type

  Resources by connection

============================

Method – Use PartSurfer to check the parts / components in your computer

In general, you can retrieve the device specs -- a list of the components that came installed in your computer -- using Part Surfer.

Use the product's serial number to see a list specific to your machine.

Start

PartSurfer might be able to tell you exactly which parts came with your computer.

  • For best results, use the Serial Number for your search
  • -- Reminder --  Do NOT post private information (including serial number) in the HP Community

 Open PartSurfer

  • Select your Country
  • Search for your computer / printer / device >> See HINT
  • Need Help?  Tab Self help > find and open the User Guide and FAQ

How to use PartSurfer:

  • Select your region / country - PartSurfer must know your general location
  • Enter your device Product Number , Serial Number, or Part Number in the Quick Search box
  • HINT: To see a system-specific list, replace the Product Number with your device Serial Number
  • Items accompanied by a tiny box in the Add-to-Cart column are available for purchase

Parts marked as "n/a" (or are missing from the list) are not available from HP.

Parts marked as available for purchase might be available > CHECK:  HP Parts Store

OR

When HP does not provide the part for retail purchase,

Use your search engine to find a compatible part number replacement at your favorite online store.
