My laptop screen is completely blank. How do I fix it. How can I find local support centers in my city?

Hi @SaurabJuneja

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m sorry to hear your laptop screen is blank—it can feel unsettling when the display doesn’t respond. Let’s walk through some clear steps together to bring it back to life. I’ll guide you step by step so you can sense exactly what’s happening at each stage.

Step 1: Power and Display Check

  • Press the power button once and listen closely—do you hear fans spinning or the drive starting? That sound confirms the laptop is powering on even if the screen is dark.
  • If you don’t hear anything, connect the laptop to its charger and wait a few minutes before trying again.

Step 2: Brightness and External Display

  • Adjust the brightness using the function keys (often marked with a sun symbol). Sometimes the screen is simply dimmed all the way down.
  • If possible, connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI. If the external display works, the issue is isolated to the laptop’s built-in screen.

Step 3: Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the charger and remove any connected devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  • Hold the power button down firmly for about 15 seconds. This drains residual power.
  • Reconnect the charger and press the power button again.

Step 4: Boot into Windows

  • If the screen remains blank, try pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del once after powering on. If Windows responds, you may see the login screen.
  • Another option is to press F8 or Shift + F8 during startup to check if the Advanced Boot Options appear.

Step 5: Memory and Hardware Reseat

  • If you’re comfortable, power off, remove the battery (if removable), and reseat the memory modules. A loose connection can cause a blank screen.
  • Reinsert the battery, reconnect power, and start the laptop again.

Step 6: BIOS Reset

  • Power on and immediately press F10 repeatedly. If the BIOS menu appears, reset to default settings and restart.

I appreciate any steps you’ve already tried—it shows great initiative. Each of these actions helps narrow down whether the issue is with power, display, or system startup. Once you’ve gone through them, let me know what you observe, and we’ll continue refining the path forward together.
