Thanks for sharing your model—HP Pavilion TP01-2271nd (544Z7EA).
If HP Support Assistant or Windows Update keeps offering the same updates repeatedly without actually applying them, you're likely dealing with a driver version mismatch, update cache corruption, or BIOS validation issue.
Here's a structured fix:
Step 1: Clear HP Update Cache
- Uninstall HP Support Assistant via Control Panel
- Delete the folder C:\SWSetup (this stores old HP update packages)
- Restart your PC
Step 2: Reset Windows Update Components
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run these commands one by one:
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
Then restart your system and check for updates again.
Step 3: Manually Install Drivers and BIOS
Instead of relying on HP Support Assistant:
- Visit the official HP driver page for TP01-2271nd
- Download and install:
- Chipset drivers
- Graphics drivers
- BIOS update (check your current version via msinfo32)
- Reboot after each install
If the BIOS update fails or loops, verify Secure Boot and BitLocker are disabled before retrying.
Step 4: Use Windows Installation Assistant (if OS updates fail)
If Windows 11 updates are also stuck:
- Go to Microsoft’s Windows 11 download page
- Use the Installation Assistant to manually apply the latest feature update (e.g., 24H2)
Let me know if you want help verifying your BIOS version or checking driver logs—I can walk you through it.
This kind of persistent update loop is solvable, and you’re already ahead by identifying the pattern.
