Hi @sananthakumar4

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with the fingerprint sensor and facial recognition options showing as unavailable on your device. Please note that these features depend on proper hardware detection and Windows Hello configuration. I recommend first checking Device Manager to confirm that the fingerprint reader and infrared (IR) camera are listed and enabled. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Unable to login using the fingerprint reader (Windows Hello)

  • If you cannot login using the fingerprint reader with Windows Hello, use the following procedure to reset the Windows Hello settings.
  • In Windows, search for and open Sign-in options.
  • Under Windows Hello Fingerprint, click Set up.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the fingerprint reader. For more information, see HP PCs - Set Up Sign-in Options for Windows Hello (Windows 10).
  • Press ctrl + alt + del to confirm that the fingerprint reader sign-in option is displayed on the Windows Lock screen. Then, log in to Windows.

Fingerprint reader sign-in option

  • If the fingerprint sign-in option was not available, run Windows Update. In Windows, search for and open Check for updates.
  • If there are any available updates, they begin installing automatically.
  • Repeat steps 1 through 4 to set up the fingerprint reader again.
  • If the fingerprint reader sign-in option is still not available, troubleshoot the fingerprint reader setup.

Cannot set up the fingerprint reader

  • If you are not able to set up the fingerprint reader, use this procedure.
  • In Windows, search for and open Sign-in options.
  • If the Set up button is available under Windows Hello Fingerprint, click Set up and then follow the on-screen instructions. For more information, see HP PCs - Set Up Sign-in Options for Windows Hello (Windows 10).
  • If the Set up button is not available under Windows Hello Fingerprint, go to the next step.
  • In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
  • Click the arrow next to Biometric devices to expand the category. Verify that the fingerprint reader is available.
  • If the fingerprint reader is not available, click the arrow next to Unknown devices to see if the fingerprint reader is listed in that category.
  • If the fingerprint reader is not listed in Device Manager, use the troubleshooting steps in Fingerprint reader is not detected in Device Manager.

Uninstall and reinstall the IR camera driver

  • Reinstalling the IR camera driver might resolve the issue. Uninstall the driver in Device Manager, and then reinstall the driver from HP Customer Support.
  • Search for and open Device Manager.
  • In the Device Manager window, double-click Imaging devices, right-click the name of the IR camera, and then select Uninstall device.

Uninstall and reinstall IR driver

  • Select Delete the driver software for this device, and then click Uninstall.

Uninstalling the driver software

  • Go to HP Customer Support- Software and Driver Downloads, and then enter your PC model number.
  • On the Software and driver results page for your PC model, download and install the driver for the IR camera.
  • Turn off your PC, and then manually turn it on to see if Windows Hello Face Recognition works. If the issue persists, continue to the next step.
