Hi @ramoneji,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
BIOS Configuration for WoL:
- During boot, press Ctrl-P to access the Intel Management Engine BIOS Extension (MEBx).
- Enter the default MEBx password (admin) and change it to a strong password, if not already done.
- Navigate to the Manageability Feature Selection menu in the MEBx, and ensure that Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) is enabled.
- Check the power state configuration under the Power Control menu. Ensure that the Intel ME is set to remain active in S3, S4, and S5 sleep states.
Network Adapter Settings:
- Open Device Manager on the HP Compaq 8200.
- Find the Intel 82579LM network adapter, right-click on it, and select Properties.
- Under the Power Management tab, ensure the checkbox that allows the device to wake the computer is enabled.
Driver Update:
- Make sure the network adapter has the latest drivers installed. You can download and install the latest drivers from the HP support website.
WoL Configuration in BIOS:
- Enter BIOS Setup by pressing F10 during the boot process.
- Navigate to the Advanced tab, and ensure that Wake on LAN is enabled.
Router Configuration:
- Ensure your router or switch supports sending Magic Packets necessary for Wake on LAN to function.
Firewall Settings:
- Ensure that your firewall or security software does not block the Magic Packets being sent to the PC.
Cross-Comparisons:
- Since your Compaq 8300 can wake on LAN using the same app, review and compare both systems' BIOS, network adapter settings, and router configurations to ensure consistency.
I hope this helps.

Hi Kuroi
I've followed your steps .
I had not to change nothing, In Intel ME Power control. And also in Devices administrator the Magic Packets are allowed.
When I start it using the WOL app now it starts Intel Boot Agent and it stay in this screen for long time. Finally I push the power button to reset it.
The BIOS settings are very similar in 8200 and 8300
Regards
Ramon Paradell
Desktop was on in S8, Me Wake in S3, S4-5
