Hi @Omi86,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that the built-in camera on your HP Victus is showing a completely black screen.

Please try the following:

  • Check the camera privacy shutter/key
  • Make sure the physical camera shutter is open.
  • If your model has a camera privacy key, press it once to enable the camera. HP notes that some notebooks have a privacy switch or shutter key that can disable the webcam.

Check Windows camera permissions

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
  • Make sure camera access is turned on.
  • Also make sure the application you're using has permission to access the camera.

Test the camera directly

  • Open the Windows Camera app.
  • Check whether the image is still completely black.

Check Device Manager

  • Right-click Start > Device Manager.
  • Look under Cameras, Imaging devices, or Sound, video, and game controllers.
  • Check whether the built-in camera is listed and whether it has a warning icon.

If the camera is not detected in Device Manager, please let us know. Also provide the exact Victus model/product number and current BIOS version, so we can check the appropriate HP camera driver and next troubleshooting steps.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
