I am using Starlink and they are showing a Big consumer of "GB Data Used" as coming from / going to the following entity..."
- IP Connection - Chongqing Fugui Electronics Co.,Ltd.
- What exactly is this entity and why is the IP/MAC address communicating with it and using GB of Data ???
- Everything related to "Chongquing" seems to be shrouded in secrecy.... for example, check out the domaintools analysis of this "IP".... shows just about very single bit of information is "Redacted for privacy". (( https://whois. domaintools. com/chongqing.com ))
- Why ???
What exactly is the relationship between the IP address on my network ... my HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e series printer and "Chongquing" - China ???
I am a security researcher by trade and want to collaborate with the HP Community to find out this information for the benefit of the community.... Again.....
- Reveals the following.... https://chongqing.com/#/ which is TOTALLY a Chinese Company.
- Respectfully. Scott. American researcher.

@Scott_AZ, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I can imagine how unsettling it must feel to see your printer traffic linked with something that looks mysterious and unfamiliar. Let me reassure you—your HP OfficeJet Pro isn’t secretly “phoning home” to China.
Here’s what’s likely happening: HP partners with several global manufacturers, and Chongqing Fugui Electronics is one of the component makers (they produce parts for many devices, not just HP). Sometimes, IP lookups can point to the hardware vendor instead of HP’s own secure servers, which can look confusing in tools like Starlink’s traffic logs.
Your printer’s actual communication—for updates, cloud printing, or Instant Ink—routes through HP’s secure servers. The “Chongqing” label is essentially the manufacturing origin tag showing up in network identity, not the live destination of your data.
So the good news: your data isn’t being shipped off overseas in the shadows. It’s just a quirk in how IP registries display ownership.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
