I have tried all the prompts to activate the backlit keyboard FN 5 FN 11 and Fn right arrow.  Nothing seems to activate the backlight.  What is my next step?

Does your notebook come with a backlit keyboard?

Most of them don't.

Generally, the F4 key turns the backlight on and off, and if your notebook has a backlit keyboard the function key that turns it on would have a keyboard icon with light rays above the keyboard icon.

If you don't see a key like that on the function key row, then your notebook does not have a backlit keyboard.
