@Souvik_2024, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Check the Charger Connection
- Ensure proper placement: Make sure the charger is plugged into a well-ventilated socket. If the plug is too close to a wall or inside a tight space, it could affect airflow and cause overheating.
- Inspect the cable and adapter: Look for any damage, like frayed wires or signs of wear. Any damage to the charger could cause it to overheat.
Use the Charger on a Flat, Hard Surface
- Charging your laptop on soft surfaces like a bed, couch, or pillow can block ventilation around the charger and cause it to overheat. Always use the charger on a flat, hard surface to ensure airflow.
Power Source
- Try a different power outlet: Sometimes the issue could be with the power source. Plugging the charger into a different outlet could help.
- Avoid using power strips: If you're using a power strip or extension cord, try plugging the charger directly into a wall socket to avoid overloading the power strip.
Check for High Power Demand
- Even if you're not gaming or editing, some background processes can cause the laptop to draw more power. Open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check if there are any programs consuming a lot of CPU or memory. If something seems unusually high, try closing those apps.

Update Drivers and BIOS
- Update Power Management Drivers: Go to the HP support website, find your model, and check if there are any updates for your power management drivers.
- Update BIOS/firmware: Sometimes, overheating issues can be resolved through BIOS updates. Check for updates on HP's support page.
Try a Different Charger
- If possible, test your laptop with another HP-compatible charger. If the new charger doesn't overheat, it may be an issue with your original charger.
Battery Health Check
- If the battery isn’t functioning properly, it could draw more power than necessary and cause the charger to overheat. Check the battery health through the HP Support Assistant or Windows Battery Report.
Clean the Charging Port
- Dust or dirt in the charging port can cause the charger to work harder and generate excess heat. Gently clean the charging port with a can of compressed air to ensure a proper connection.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
