Agreed. No response or support from either AMD or HP. I have the same issue and there are plenty of people on the internet with the same issue. It doesn't look like it's a hardware issue either.

My bet is that it has something to do with the uncommon resolution of the display because whenever I connect the laptop to a standard 1080P external display, freezing stops strangely.

Okay, so I think I found a solution:

After dealing with this problem for several weeks, I decided to just factory reset the whole laptop, installed all my previous software, restored my files, and, guess what, the issue still ocurred. Here I was thinking "How is this possible, I just resetted the thing!". Moreover, the AMD Adrenalin Software seemed to want to update, but everytime I wanted to install, I got a message saying that the update had failed.

Now, connect the dots: as it turns out, we cannot directly download and install software from AMD's website. "Why not?" you may ask, well honestly I have no idea... I couldn't install the update, because as it turns out, for this specific model, HP has got its own custom set of drivers and software, which conflicted with the drivers and software I installed on top of it from AMD's own website.

The solution:

  • Quit all AMD services/ background processes in the Task Manager app.
  • Then, use the AMD cleaner tool to remove all AMD software from the laptop, also delete any AMD folders in Documents, Program Files, and Program Files (x86).
(This will probably need a couple of reboots as the cleaner tool will want to boot in safe mode)
  • Now proceed to download all necessary drivers and software from Windows Update or the HP website only!
  • Please never touch AMD website again 🙂

This worked for me: I got my color profiles back and no more issues with stuttering in any app I installed afterwards.

Hope this will work for you guys as well!
