Hi @Annette1045,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

The “Load Library failed with error 126” message is a Windows error that usually points to a driver or DLL problem — most often graphics drivers, printer drivers. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Identify the Trigger

  • Note which program or driver is showing the error (printer software, GPU‑related app, CAD tool, etc.).
  • This helps narrow down which DLL is failing.

Update Graphics Drivers

  • Error 126 is commonly linked to outdated or corrupted GPU drivers.
  • Open Device Manager → Display adapters → Right‑click → Update driver.
  • Or download the latest driver directly from Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD depending on your hardware.

Reinstall the Affected Application/Driver

  • If the error appears when launching HP printer software or another app:
  • Uninstall it via Control Panel → Programs and Features.
  • Restart your PC.
  • Reinstall the latest version from the vendor’s support site.

Repair System Files

  • Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run:
  • Code
  • sfc /scannow
  • This scans and repairs corrupted system files that may block DLL loading.

Install Required Runtime Libraries

  • Some apps require Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.
  • Download and install the latest packages from Microsoft’s site.
  • Missing runtimes can trigger error 126.

Disable Conflicting Software

  • Third‑party antivirus or system optimizers can block DLLs.
  • Temporarily disable them and retry the application.

Apply Windows Updates

  • Ensure your system is fully updated.
  • Updates often include fixes for DLL and driver compatibility.

Take care and have an amazing day!
