The BIOS became corrupted during recovery attempts,

HP BIOS Recovery completed successfully via USB (update) via WIN Key + B.

the SSD passed diagnostics (F2)

but I am now locked out by an unknown BIOS administrator password,

and Secure Boot is preventing recovery USB booting.

F9, F10, Escape sends me straight to the BIOS password prompt.

Is there a way to clear the BIOS password so I can access the BIOS menu?

Trying to locate the clear CMOS jumer pins on the motherboard but cant find them

Hi @Lincex,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how it must feel to be locked out after going through the recovery process .
Could you please share the exact HP model number of your device ?

Please note BIOS administrator passwords are designed as a security feature to protect your system and data. Once set, they cannot be bypassed or cleared without entering the correct password. HP does not set or maintain BIOS passwords on devices  they are created by the owner or administrator of the computer.

Attempting to remove it through hardware methods (such as clearing CMOS or manipulating jumpers) will not remove the BIOS administrator password on HP systems.

Secure Boot workaround: Since Secure Boot is blocking USB boot, once the BIOS password is cleared, you’ll be able to disable Secure Boot and boot from recovery media again.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
