I recently bought a HP OmniBook X Flip Laptop 16-ar0xxx and was wondering that my BT mouse wasn't working. In the device manager I noticed that under the Bluetooth section all devices are in light blue. After restarting, new driver search via Windows update, BIOS check (BT test passed) I removed the BT device. I downloaded the most recent MediaTek driver from HP (sp170040) for my Omnibook and installed. After usual restart still no success. And advice much appreciated.

Hi @Raymond_C,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
If you're experiencing issues with the Bluetooth functionality on your HP OmniBook X Flip 16-ar0xxx, and have tried reinstalling drivers and updating the system without success, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
Full Driver Removal
- Open Device Manager → expand Bluetooth.
- Right‑click each MediaTek Bluetooth entry → Uninstall device.
- Check Delete the driver software for this device if available.
- Restart your laptop.
Clean Install HP Driver
- Download the latest MediaTek Bluetooth driver (sp170040) from HP’s support page for your exact model.
- Install it fresh after the clean removal.
- Restart again.
Verify Windows Services
- Press Win + R, type services.msc.
- Locate Bluetooth Support Service.
- Set it to Automatic and ensure it’s running.
- Restart the service if needed.
Update Chipset & BIOS
- Install the latest chipset drivers (Intel or AMD, depending on your CPU) from HP’s support site.
- Update your BIOS to the newest version — Bluetooth relies on chipset communication.
Manual Driver Install
- If the HP package doesn’t work, download a newer MediaTek Bluetooth driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
- In Device Manager → Update driver → Browse my computer → point to the downloaded driver folder.
Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi @Pallipurath
Thanks for your support - I went through all outlined steps and after even spending with HP support for two hours on the phone I reset the notebook and started over with installing software. At least it brought back BT, but cannot say anything if boot issues persists.
Cheers
Raymond
