Hi @HarryN77,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out. If the HP True Vision 5MP Camera on your HP ENVY x360 isn’t working, here are step-by-step actions you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

 1. Check for a Physical Camera Shutter or Privacy Switch

  • Some HP ENVY models have a physical shutter or keyboard key (e.g., F8) to disable the webcam.
  • Look for a slider near the camera or a camera icon key on the keyboard.
  • If the shutter is closed or the key is toggled off, the camera will not work.

2. Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
  2. Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
    • If you see HP TrueVision Camera, right-click > Enable (if disabled).
    • If it’s missing, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.

🔍 If it still doesn’t appear, go to View > Show hidden devices.

3. Update or Roll Back Camera Driver

  1. In Device Manager, right-click the camera > Properties.
  2. Go to the Driver tab:
    • Click Update Driver > Search automatically.
    • If the issue started recently, try Roll Back Driver (if available).

4. Check Camera Privacy Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  2. Make sure Camera access is on.
  3. Ensure apps like CameraTeams, or Zoom are allowed to use the camera.

5. Run HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Turn off your laptop.
  2. Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP Diagnostics.
  3. Run the Camera Test to check if the hardware is detected.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
