HP Envy x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-fa-0000 (8Z8P5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My envy laptop won't charge. When I plug in the charger it does not show it's charging.  Anyone know what the problem could be?

@Tippy123, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Envy x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC (Model 14-fa0000 series) is not charging, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check the Power Adapter and Cable:

  • Ensure that the power adapter and cable are securely connected to both the laptop and a functional power outlet.
  • Check for any visible damage on the cable and power adapter. If there's any physical damage, consider using another power adapter.

Inspect the Charging Port:

  • Look into the charging port on your laptop for any debris or damage. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean any dust in the port.

Verify Indicator Lights:

  • On the HP Envy x360, the AC adapter and battery light can provide insights:
    • White light: Indicates that the battery is fully charged.
    • Amber light: The battery is charging.
    • Blinking Amber light: The battery has reached a low charge level and the adapter is not connected properly.

Try a Different Power Outlet:

  • Plug the adapter into a different outlet to rule out any issues with the specific outlet you are using.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to perform a hard reset.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and check if the laptop starts charging.

Inspect Battery Status:

  • Make sure that the battery is properly installed in its compartment. If possible, reseat the battery.

Check System for Updates:

  • Ensure that your system firmware and drivers are up to date. Use HP Support Assistant to automatically find software and driver updates.

Use the Correct Power Adapter:

  • Ensure you are using the original charger provided with your HP laptop, or an HP-approved replacement. Some third-party chargers may not be compatible.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
