@Royh70, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I understand how frustrating it can be when your HP 14 Stream won’t turn on normally after Windows updates. Since you’re able to get it working temporarily by pressing Windows + B, it sounds like the laptop is stuck trying to update or boot properly. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps you can try yourself to fix this issue:

Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes residual power causes boot issues.

Disconnect the charger and any external devices.

Hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual power.

Reconnect the charger (do not connect any external devices).

Try to power on normally (just press the power button).

Use Recovery Options via Windows + B

Since Windows + B is allowing you to access something:

Turn off the laptop.

Press and hold Windows + B and then press the power button once while holding those keys.

Keep holding Windows + B for about 2-3 seconds, then release.

This should try to bring up the BIOS recovery or recovery screen.

Update BIOS and Drivers

Sometimes BIOS or outdated drivers cause update failures.

Visit the HP Support website on a working computer or your laptop when stable.

Download the latest BIOS update for HP 14 Stream.

Follow HP’s instructions carefully to update BIOS.

Also update Windows drivers, especially chipset and storage drivers.

Repair Windows Using a USB Recovery Drive

If the above doesn’t help and you still face boot issues:

Use another working PC to create a Windows 10/11 USB recovery drive via the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.

Plug this USB into your HP Stream and boot from it (you might need to press Esc or F9 during power-on to choose boot device).

Select Repair your computer → Troubleshoot → Startup Repair or System Restore.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
