@willi481, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Clamshell mode: Most 2-in-1 devices do not auto-rotate in this mode. Auto-rotation is typically disabled to prevent accidental screen flips.
Tent/Tablet Mode: Auto-rotation should activate in these modes.
Check Rotation Lock:
Open Settings > System > Display.
Scroll to Display Orientation.
If “Rotation lock” is available:
Make sure it’s turned off.
Check Tablet Mode Settings:
Go to Settings > System > Tablet.
Under When I use this device as a tablet, try selecting:
“Always switch to tablet mode” or
“Ask me before switching”.
Check Sensor Functionality:
Open Device Manager.
Expand Sensors (or System Devices).
Look for “HID Sensor Collection” or similar.
If it’s missing or has a warning icon:
Right-click > Update driver.
Or try Uninstall, then Scan for hardware changes.
HP Support Assistant:
Use HP Support Assistant to check for:
Sensor driver updates
BIOS updates
HP utilities that manage tablet/rotation behavior
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
