I have a Zbook (12th Gen Intel Core i7-1260P) running Win11 Pro but this problem was experienced on my prior HP Spectre x360 laptop. The numlock on the key pad keeps turning off by itself. I press the numlock button on the keypad and the light comes on. When I press the numbers, the numbers are typed. After 15 seconds, the numlock light goes off but the numbers still work when pressed.  When any key is pressed on the keyboard, the numlock light comes back on. So far, so good.

But at some point, the numbers on the keypad will stop working and the only way to reactivate the number keys is to press the numlock button again. I don't know what I do to stop the number keys from working. Seems random. I never, ever press the numlock button unless I have to reactive the number pad. So I'm not accidentally turning the number pad off. Suffice to say, this is incredibly annoying as I bought this laptop specifically for the number pad and use it constantly. How can I set the number pad to stay on all the time? My HP Omni Studio and Envy desktop do not have this problem. The numlock always stays on. It's only on HP laptops where the number pad goes off on its own.

The simplest way to fix this problem is to update your Keyboard drivers. Another option is to restart your PC and enter BIOS, the look for an option like Boot Up NumLock State or NumLock on Boot. Enable it and then save and exit.

That numlock on start feature is checked in the BIOS. Still, the numlock goes off. Just happened right now. No clue what's turning it off. Seems to be happening on its own.
