Microsoft Windows 11

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and seeking some help with ongoing issues I've been experiencing with my HP OmniBook. While I'm not as knowledgeable or technically proficient as some, I'm capable of troubleshooting to a certain extent.

I've gone through quite a few laptops over the past 8 years, sampling models from the major seven consumer OEMs (HP, Dell, Apple, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Samsung). Each brand has its pros and cons, and I'm still hunting for that perfect configuration. Despite a few minor hardware gripes, I keep gravitating back to the Spectre, now OmniBook, as my favorite among the limited options available.

However, I've been facing persistent Bluetooth issues with the OmniBook. It's frustrating to constantly disconnect, reconnect, restart, update, delete, and reinstall. I got a new laptop to avoid these headaches, not to perpetuate them. My older Spectre (from 2017), which I use with my TV, doesn't give me nearly as much trouble. Is anyone aware if this is being addressed? Are we just waiting for another patch from Intel?

Additionally, has anyone else experienced black screen issues with the HP OmniBook? A slight tilt can cause the screen to go blank, and it often requires a power cycle and some maneuvering to fix it.

Moreover, the touchpad seems to glitch or simply refuses to work, making it unreliable. I almost always use a mouse because of this inconsistency.

Are these screen and touchpad issues related to the Lunar Lake chip, or is it something else? Although the battery upgrade is decent and the computer has its merits, I'm not entirely sold on it. The system feels sluggish, and it doesn't seem like a top-dollar machine given HP's initial configurations.

Does anyone have any advice or insights?

Thanks in advance!

I'm the Riddle_Decipher at your service.

Thank you for sharing your experience with your HP OmniBook and the challenges you’ve been facing.
Here’s a summary of your key points and the issues you're experiencing to see if I've got this right:

Bluetooth Connectivity Issues:

Frequent disconnections and reconnections.
Updates, deletions, and reinstallations haven’t resolved the issue.
Comparison with an older Spectre model, which functions more reliably.

Black Screen Problems:

The screen goes blank with a slight tilt.
Requires a power cycle and manipulation to restore functionality.

Touchpad Glitches:

Inconsistent performance, often rendering it unreliable.
Preference for using a mouse due to touchpad issues.

Performance Concerns:

The system feels sluggish, questioning whether this is related to the Lunar Lake chip or something else.
General dissatisfaction with the initial configurations of the machine.

A few questions for further clarity:

1. When did issues begin to occur? Right out of box or sometime later?
2. Are the issues intermittent or easy to replicate?
3. What is the current BIOS version?
4. Have you installed the latest Windows updates?
5. Have you tried system recovery or hp cloud recovery to reimage back to factory default?
6. Have you phoned hp customer support for technical assistance?

Your insights will help us better understand your situation and tailor our support.
Thank you for your patience, and I look forward to assisting you further!

Having similar issues. But mostly with Windows Update error. Defender and multiple drivers with Error 0x80248007.

SunPlusIT, Realtel Semiconductor Intel System and Windows Defender. Since HP doesn't even have these drivers available for download for the Ultra 7 Ver 2 chip, we are stuck with these errors.

About to try a complete fresh install and see if that works...bothersome a $1700 laptop has these issues right out of the box new. We "WERE" going to order 60 of these units, but not anymore. Going with the Asus Zenbook same chip version Ultra 7 v2 with 32GM Ram.  HP as always on the right track, but seems to find a way to fubar the entire situation.

I have had the same experience with the bluetooth turning off.  It most often occurs when I close the laptop to put it to sleep and then bluetooth is no longer working and not in my system task tray when I return.  Sometimes it also occurs when I walk away and screen turns off but when I return, the bluetooth has to be restarted again.  I have to go to System Settings and turn bluetooth off and back on for it to function again and return to the task tray.  I have checked the device manager settings for my bluetooth device to ensure it's not set to turn off to save power.

I also have had the screen flicker to black randomly and it will continue to flicker until I restart the computer.  I have taken no steps to troubleshoot this because it has only happened 3 times so far.

1. When did issues begin to occur? Right out of box or sometime later?  Answer:  Right out of the box on day 1.
2. Are the issues intermittent or easy to replicate?  Answer: Intermittent, but somewhat common (almost daily re: bluetooth)
3. What is the current BIOS version? Answer: Don't have it currently but will write it down after next restart
4. Have you installed the latest Windows updates?  Answer: Yes
5. Have you tried system recovery or hp cloud recovery to reimage back to factory default?  Answer: No, I just got it on 11/24/24 so I haven't done a restore yet.
6. Have you phoned hp customer support for technical assistance?  Answer: Not yet
