Hi community,
I’m currently experimenting with integrating external AI tools like ChatGPT into my HP notebook workflow for both personal productivity and content creation. While my device handles most tasks well, I’ve noticed slight lags during longer inference or prompt sessions, especially when using browser-based versions of these tools with multiple tabs or plugins.
I'm reaching out to ask:
Are there any recommended settings or performance optimization tips for HP notebooks (especially in AI-heavy use cases)?
Have any members tried optimizing their systems (e.g., power plan settings, thermal management, memory prioritization) for smoother AI tool usage?
Would it make sense to offload heavier processing to cloud-based AI services from HP's ecosystem if available?
My goal is to ensure my notebook runs efficiently while using external AI platforms daily.
Looking forward to your insights and tips from fellow users or HP experts.
Thanks in advance!

@gptopenaifr, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thanks for your thoughtful question on optimizing AI workflows using tools like ChatGPT on your HP notebook. And there are several ways to enhance your system’s performance for AI-heavy tasks.
Recommended Optimization Tips for HP Notebooks (AI Workflows)
Power & Performance Settings
- Switch to “Best Performance” mode:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Power Mode and select Best Performance.
- HP Command Center (if available on your device):
- Use the Performance Mode to prioritize CPU/GPU resources for demanding tasks.
- Download or update via HP Command Center.
Thermal Management
- Ensure your notebook is well-ventilated and clean of dust.
- Use HP CoolSense (on supported models) to automatically adjust cooling based on usage.
- Consider a cooling pad if you're running long inference sessions.
Memory & Resource Optimization
- Close unused browser tabs and background apps to free up RAM.
- Use Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) to monitor CPU/RAM usage.
- Upgrade to 16GB+ RAM if you frequently multitask with AI tools.
Browser Optimization for ChatGPT
- Use lightweight browsers like Microsoft Edge or Brave.
- Disable unnecessary extensions or plugins.
- Try ChatGPT desktop apps or API integrations for better performance than browser-based tools.
Offloading to Cloud or HP Ecosystem
- Yes, offloading heavier AI tasks to cloud-based services is a smart move.
- Explore HP Z by HP workstations or HP Anyware for remote access to high-performance computing environments: HP Z Workstations for AI.
Driver & BIOS Updates
- Keep your system updated using HP Support Assistant: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
- Regular updates ensure optimal compatibility and performance.
