My computer will not print to my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. This problem started when I traveled and set my laptop to a different printer. When I came home I was not able to change back to my HP printer. Its online .  Its set as default printer. It comes up in my selection of printers. But it will not set itself as my printer,

I get a message the HP class driver cannot be contacted over the internet spooler. I have tried to

download drivers and have tried various other trouble shooter advice. My printer is out of warranty and

having difficulty fixing the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi @LS019,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Reconnect the Printer:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network. If it's a wireless connection, verify that both your computer and printer are connected to the same network.

Restart Printer Spooler Service:

  • Open the Run dialog by pressing Windows key + R and type services.msc, then press Enter.
  • Scroll down and find the "Print Spooler" service.
  • Right-click on it and select "Restart". This may help clear any pending jobs or errors.

Remove and Re-add the Printer:

  • Go to the Control Panel and select "Devices and Printers".
  • Right-click on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and select "Remove device".
  • After removal, select "Add a printer" and follow the on-screen instructions to re-add your printer to the list.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer.
  • Follow the installation prompts to update or reinstall the drivers.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your Windows OS is up to date, as some updates may affect printer connectivity and drivers.

Troubleshooter Tool:

  • Use HP Print and Scan Doctor, a free tool from HP to help diagnose and fix printing and scanning problems.

Network Configuration:

  • Sometimes, network changes can disrupt printer settings. Double-check your printer's network settings to ensure it's correctly configured.

I hope this helps.
