@Reno10,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

The HP ENVY x360 - 15-dr1003la often encounters TPM errors (such as Error Code 80090016) that prevent OneDrive and other Microsoft 365 apps from authenticating. This usually happens because the authentication tokens stored in your security chip no longer match the app's credentials after a Windows or BIOS update.

1. Reset the "BrokerPlugin" Folder (Most Effective):

This is the most successful fix for OneDrive TPM errors. It forces Windows to rebuild the secure link between your account and the TPM chip: How to Easily Fix the Error Code 80090016 on Windows 10/11.

  1. Close all Microsoft apps (OneDrive, Teams, Outlook).
  2. Open File Explorer and paste this into the address bar:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\
  3. Find the folder: Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy.
  4. Right-click it and Rename it to: Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy.old.
  5. Restart your PC and try signing into OneDrive again.

2. Clear the TPM via Windows Security:

If renaming the folder doesn't work, you may need to clear the chip entirely.

  • Warning: This will reset your Windows Hello PIN and potentially require a BitLocker Recovery Key if your drive is encrypted!

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security > Device security.
  2. Select Security processor details > Security processor troubleshooting.
  3. Click Clear TPM and restart.

3. Clear Cached Credentials:

Sometimes old, corrupted login data is the culprit rather than the chip itself.

Experts Exchange:

  1. Type Credential Manager in your Start menu.
  2. Go to Windows Credentials.
  3. Find any entries containing OneDrive or MicrosoftOffice and click Remove.
  4. Restart and sign in again.

4. Enable TPM in BIOS (If "Not Detected"):

If Windows says a "Compatible TPM cannot be found," it might be disabled in your HP BIOS.

  1. Restart and repeatedly press F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Navigate to the Security tab.
  3. Ensure TPM Device is set to Available and TPM State is Enabled.
  4. Save and exit (F10).

Kind Regards,
