I purchased the Adobe photoshop elements and premier with my new computer years ago before the put term limits on. When I had to reload on computer due to hard drive failure. I have original cd / serial number and paperwork but Adobe said HP is not authorized to sale the product. I tried explaining it was bundled with a new computer. They are saying nothing they can do because HP is not allowed to sale. So if this is true why is HP still offering this bundle on new computers. Granted now it says 3 years. according to Adobe they are not allowed.  Can someone help with how to install or get my money back? I am tired of all these monthly and yearly fees for something not used that often.

Hi @Gofigureitout

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details of your situation. I understand you purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere bundled with your HP computer and are now facing difficulties reinstalling them after a hard drive replacement. You also mentioned having the original CD, serial number, and paperwork, but Adobe has indicated they cannot assist because of licensing restrictions.

Here’s how we can proceed in a structured way:

Installation from Original Media

  • Insert the original Adobe Photoshop Elements/Premiere CD into your computer.
  • Run the installer and enter the serial number provided with your bundle.
  • If the installer does not launch automatically, open File Explorer, navigate to the CD drive, and double‑click on setup.exe.

Compatibility Check

  • Since the bundle was purchased years ago, confirm that your current operating system supports the version of Adobe Elements/Premiere included.
  • If you are using a newer Windows version, older installers may not run correctly. In such cases, try running the installer in Compatibility Mode:
    • Right‑click setup.exe → PropertiesCompatibility tab → select the Windows version closest to when the software was bundled.

Refund or Licensing Clarification

  • For bundled software, HP’s role is to provide the media and license at the time of purchase. Adobe manages ongoing activation and licensing.
  • If Adobe has restricted activation due to licensing changes, HP recommends contacting Adobe directly with proof of purchase.
  • If you believe the bundle was misrepresented, you can review HP’s warranty and software support policies here:
HP Worldwide Limited Warranty and Technical Support

By following the above steps, you should be able to attempt installation from your original media. If compatibility or licensing restrictions prevent activation, the official HP recovery documentation will confirm what bundled software can be restored, and Adobe’s licensing policies will determine ongoing use.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
