Dear HP Leadership Team,
I write as part of the open-source, Linux, AI/ML, data-science and gaming communities to urge HP to take two pivotal steps for your Victus and OMEN users:
---
1. Official Ubuntu Certification for HP Victus & OMEN
Pre-Validated Ubuntu Images:
Provide Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (and future LTS) images pre-configured for Victus and OMEN hardware. These images should include the correct NVIDIA/AMD proprietary drivers, firmware updates, power-management tweaks, and any necessary kernel modules to ensure flawless out-of-the-box operation.
Ubuntu-Compatible Firmware & BIOS Tools:
Ship BIOS updates and firmware-flashing utilities as native Linux packages or Snap so that users can receive critical system updates directly from Ubuntu’s Software Updater.
Dedicated Linux Support Channel:
Extend HP’s support services to cover Ubuntu, training Tier-2 engineers on Linux driver stacks, kernel troubleshooting, and open-source firmware. Offer a “Linux Care Pack” option so developers and researchers can get official help for any Ubuntu-related hardware issue.
---
2. Native OMEN Gaming Hub for Linux
Full Feature Parity:
Develop a Linux version of OMEN Gaming Hub that delivers the same performance-tuning, RGB lighting controls, macro programming, and network-QoS capabilities currently available on Windows. Target both GUI (GTK/Qt) and a complementary CLI or Python API for automation.
Performance Profiles & Telemetry:
Let users switch between “High-Performance AI Training,” “Balanced Productivity,” and “Silent Gaming” presets. Expose CPU/GPU power limits, fan-curve adjustments, and real-time system monitoring so developers and gamers alike can optimize for their workload.
Community SDK & Documentation:
Publish a developer SDK and REST/CLI interface so the open-source community can build plugins, integrate with Ansible or dotfiles, and extend Hub functionality for containerized AI workloads or custom gaming automations.
---
Why These Steps Matter for HP
Brand Differentiation:
By officially supporting Ubuntu and delivering a Linux-native OMEN Hub, HP distinguishes the Victus/OMEN line as truly cross-platform high-performance machines.
Expanded Market Reach:
You’ll win favor among universities, research labs, startups, and professional developers who choose Ubuntu for AI/ML pipelines—and also enjoy top-tier gaming.
Reduced Support Overhead:
Pre-certified hardware and community-validated Hub APIs will dramatically reduce workaround requests and forum troubleshooting, freeing your support teams for more strategic work.
---
I hope HP will lead the industry by formally embracing Ubuntu and delivering the OMEN gaming experience to Linux users. Thank you for considering these proposals—our communities stand ready to collaborate on testing, documentation, and feedback.
Sincerely,
K S Vikash Reddy

this is very much needed +1 bump
I honestly hope they see this, they probably acknowledge the fact that this needs to be a thing for linux, but honestly, they are probably just lazy and dont care to switch support on for this.
