I've been allowing my AI AIO desktop to sleep at the end of the day rather than shutting down.  When I awaken the PC in the morning, I see the desktop with a small, blue spinning circle.  I can do nothing but wait this out, which can take up to 5 minutes.  Once this resolves, all is well.  HP Tech Support (I'm no fan) tells me it's best to shut down at night and not let the PC sleep overnight.  So, I'm now testing to see if this makes a difference.  It will take a few days to confirm one way or the other.

But why should sleeping for ~ 8 hours cause this difficulty?  I have serious doubts about any info provided by HP Tech Support and place great value on user support.

Thanks!

I always shut down my PC overnight.

I do that so that once a day, the PC goes through a full cold boot cycle which you should do at least occasionally.

I prefer to do that daily.

But i agree with you.

It really shouldn't matter whether you turn the PC off or let it sleep.

You should not have to wait up to 5 minutes for the PC to come to life.

For example, if I was using my PC in the morning and left to go out for the day, I don't turn it off, I let it sleep and then when I come back home later in the day, I shake the mouse and wake up the PC.

Works fine whether or not I am gone for 8 hours or 1 hour or 30 minutes.

One suggestion I can offer would be to uncheck the 'Fast startup' option in the Windows control panel>system and security>power options>change what the power buttons do>click on the blue 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' line, and then uncheck the fast startup box.

See if that helps any.
