@RoigRobert, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Sound Issues After Driver Update on HP ENVY Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you're experiencing sound issues on your HP ENVY laptop after a driver update, here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the problem:

1. Check Volume Levels

  • Ensure that the volume is not muted or set too low. Look for the volume icon in the system tray and adjust the volume settings.

2. Verify Audio Output Device

  • Make sure the correct audio output device is selected. Right-click the sound icon in the system tray and select "Playback devices." Then ensure that your speakers or headphones are set as the default device.

3. Restart Your Computer

  • A simple restart can sometimes resolve audio issues. Restart your laptop to apply any system changes.

4. Check Connections

  • For wired headphones, ensure that they are properly plugged into the correct audio jack. If using Bluetooth headphones, ensure that they are paired successfully.

5. Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Device Manager:
    1. Press Win + X and select "Device Manager."
    2. Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section.
    3. Right-click your audio device and select "Uninstall device."
    4. Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the audio driver.

6. Update Audio Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your specific laptop model.
  • Alternatively, you can use the HP Support Assistant to check for the latest drivers and updates automatically.

7. Run the Audio Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select "Playing Audio" and click "Run the troubleshooter" to allow Windows to detect and fix any audio issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
