browsing web with firefox on windows 11, and usually after some time (few hours), especially while browsing heavier websites, like scrolling youtube homepage with many thumbnails, browser freezes for few seconds, maybe up to 10s. but every instance of browser becomes unresponsive, you can move mouse but can't click anything, can't scroll, frozen. It unfreezes itself after that period of 5-10s, and can work fine for another hour, to repeat same thing, happens at most few times per hour..

Hi @amd47,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your Windows 11 system is experiencing temporary freezes while using Firefox, especially on content-heavy websites like YouTube. Let’s go through some steps to diagnose and reduce these freezes.

Update Firefox

Open Firefox → Menu (three lines) → HelpAbout Firefox.

Ensure you are running the latest version; updates often fix performance issues.

Clear Cache and Cookies

Menu → SettingsPrivacy & SecurityCookies and Site DataClear Data.

Clearing cache can reduce slowdowns caused by large temporary files.

Disable Hardware Acceleration

Menu → SettingsGeneralPerformance.

Uncheck Use recommended performance settings → uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.

Restart Firefox and see if freezes improve.

Check for Heavy Extensions/Add-ons

Menu → Add-ons and themesExtensions.

Disable unnecessary extensions and see if performance improves.

Monitor System Resources

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

Watch CPU, memory, and disk usage while browsing YouTube.

High usage could indicate Firefox or another process is using excessive resources.

Update Graphics Drivers

Go to Device Manager → Display adapters → right-click GPU → Update driver.

Outdated GPU drivers can cause temporary freezes on media-heavy websites.

Try Firefox Refresh

Menu → HelpTroubleshoot ModeRefresh Firefox.

This resets settings without losing bookmarks or passwords, resolving many slow/freezing issues.

Test Other Browsers

See if Chrome, Edge, or another browser exhibits the same behavior.

If other browsers freeze too, it may indicate a system-wide or hardware-related issue.

Check for Windows Updates

Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.

Ensure you have the latest patches for performance and stability.

I hope this helps.
