Try these steps:
Ensure the Touchpad Is Enabled
- Check Touchpad Settings:
- Press Windows + I to open the settings.
- Navigate to Devices > Touchpad and ensure that the touchpad is enabled.
- Adjust sensitivity settings if needed.
Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers
Update Drivers:
- Go to the Official HP Support site.
- Enter your serial number or product name and click Submit.
- Click Software, Drivers, and Firmware.
- Select your Operating System and version then click Submit.
- Expand All Drivers and find the touchpad driver.
- Download and install the latest driver version.
Reinstall Drivers via Device Manager:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Locate Mice and other pointing devices and expand the section.
- Right-click on the touchpad device and select Uninstall Driver.
- Restart your computer, and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
Perform a System Reset
- Perform a reset:
- Shut down the computer.
- Disconnect all external devices.
- Turn on the computer and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Select Restart from the options.
Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure Windows is up to date:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Navigate to Update & Security and click Check for updates.
- Install any available updates.
