Hi @Vman1232,.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you want to know which stylus is compatible with the HP OmniBook 5 16-inch touchscreen, especially since your MPP 2.0 stylus is not working. Let’s go through a few important points to clarify this.

Touchscreen vs active pen support
The HP OmniBook 5 16" does have a touchscreen, but not all touchscreen models support an active stylus.
In many OmniBook 5 configurations, the display supports finger touch only, not an active pen digitizer.

About MPP 2.0 stylus compatibility
Even though your stylus supports Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP) 2.0, the OmniBook 5 screen itself may not have the required pen digitizer layer.
If the digitizer is not present, MPP pens will not be detected at all.

Is your MPP stylus “dead”?
No — if the stylus works on another Windows device that supports MPP, then it is not faulty.
This behavior points to device incompatibility, not a dead pen.

What type of stylus will work
If your OmniBook 5 does not support active pen input, only a passive (capacitive) stylus will work.
A capacitive stylus behaves like a finger and does not require pairing, batteries, or drivers.

Limitations of a capacitive (“dead”) stylus
You will not get pressure sensitivity, palm rejection, tilt, or precision pen features.
It is suitable only for basic navigation, tapping, and simple handwriting.

How to confirm pen support on your exact model
Check your product specifications page on HP Support and look specifically for “Pen support” or “Active stylus support.”
If this is not listed, the system does not support an active pen.

I hope this helps.
