Hi @Linda392,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out — we’re sorry to hear your HP wireless keyboard and mouse aren’t working as expected. We know how frustrating that can be, especially when everything else seems to check out.

It sounds like you’ve already tried quite a bit (thank you for that!), and we appreciate the heads-up about the driver downloads not completing properly. We’ll do our best to help you get back up and running.

Here are a few things we recommend next:

1. Check the USB Receiver

  • Make sure the USB dongle (receiver) is securely plugged into a working USB port.
  • Try moving it to a different port, preferably one directly on your PC (not a hub).
  • If your PC has Bluetooth and the devices are Bluetooth-based, try re-pairing them.

2. Power & Battery Check

  • Replace the batteries in both the keyboard and mouse, even if they seem fine.
  • If they’re rechargeable, plug them in for at least 30 minutes and try again.

3. Reconnect or Reset

  • Some HP wireless devices have a Connect button. Press and hold it until the light flashes, then do the same on the receiver.
  • If there’s no button, unplug the receiver, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.

4. Update Drivers (Even Without HP EXE Files)

Since the HP driver EXE files aren’t downloading properly, try this instead:

  1. Press Win + X → choose Device Manager.
  2. Expand Keyboards and Mice, and other pointing devices.
  3. Right-click each device → choose Update driver → Search automatically.

5. Use HP’s Diagnostic Tools

If you can get online, try HP’s official tools:

HP Wireless Keyboard Troubleshooter: HP PCs - Wireless keyboard troubleshooting | HP® Support

HP Wireless Mouse Troubleshooter: HP PCs - Troubleshooting wireless mouse issues | HP® Support

HP Virtual Assistant: Fix HP Keyboard, Mouse or Touchpad Not Working for Laptops and Computers| HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
