Hello everyone,
I have an HP laptop, and I wanted to ask about battery usage.
Once my battery reaches 100%, is it safe to keep the laptop plugged in, or should I unplug it to protect battery health?
I mainly use my laptop for long study/work sessions, so it often stays connected to the charger for several hours.
Does HP have any built-in protection (like stopping charging at 100%), or should I manually unplug it?
Any advice or official HP recommendations would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Use AC power exclusively for daily tasks to minimize discharges entirely; battery degradation mainly occurs from heat and deep cycles, not constant plugging. You laptop doesn't have 95% battery limit or may so Skip manual management entirely, keep your HP Pavilion plugged in at 100%. Its battery management system bypasses the battery completely after full charge, adding zero cycles during AC use.
Use on battery when needed but don't do it frequently.

Gaming laptops are completely safe to remain connected to the power source once they reach 100% charge. Recent models of HP laptops such as Victus Series and Omen Series gaming laptops come with a battery management system that bypasses the battery by supplying power to the laptop directly from the charger if it has already been fully charged.
It is recommended to keep the battery at 100% and plugged in for optimal battery health. Lithium-ion batteries have a limited number of charge cycles, so frequent discharging and recharging reduces their lifespan faster. Users who want to run the laptop on battery power can do so, but should not do it frequently and must avoid letting the charge drop below 20%. Some people also perform battery calibration, draining from 100% to 5%, then recharging to 100% and continuing use, once every three months to maintain accuracy.
