my battery has stopped charging. i bought the computer from currys (UK) less than a year ago. When I log into HP support it says I need to replace the battery. I believe that because it is less than 1 year old HP should replace the battery free of charge. Should I return it to the retailer or try to get in touch with HP directly

Hi Alekine

In fact, it should be covered by the warranty, but keep in mind that policies vary. Have your purchase receipts and other information about your equipment on hand.

Steps to Get Battery Replacement

  1. Direct Contact with HP:

    • Since HP acknowledges that the battery needs to be replaced, you can directly get in touch with HP Customer Support for assistance.
    • Visit the HP Customer Support website and enter the model or serial number of your device.
    • Follow the instructions provided on the website to request service or replacement.
  2. Contacting HP by Phone:

    • If you prefer phone support, you can call HP Customer Support. For support in the UK, the contact number is +44 (0) 207 512 52 02.
  3. Returning to Retailer:

    • Alternatively, you can return to Currys where you purchased the computer to seek assistance.
    • Explain the issue with the battery and provide proof of purchase if required.

Warranty Coverage

  • HP offers free telephone support and warranty service for one year from the date of purchase.
  • If HP confirms that the battery is defective, it will be covered under the one-year limited warranty, and they will either repair or replace the defective battery.

I hope the above is helpful
