Hi @parshant3

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds incredibly frustrating—especially when everything looks fine until the moment you unplug. Let’s walk through a few steps that can help pinpoint and possibly fix what’s going on:

🔋 Step-by-Step Battery Troubleshooting

1. Perform a Power Reset

This helps clear any residual charge or miscommunication between the battery and system.

  • Shut down the laptop.
  • Unplug the charger.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Plug the charger back in and power on the laptop.

2. Run a Battery Diagnostic

Let’s check the battery’s health directly:

  • Press Esc during startup to open the Startup Menu.
  • Select F2 to launch the diagnostics.
  • Choose Component Tests > Battery Test and follow the prompts.

3. Reinstall Battery Drivers

Sometimes the battery controller gets confused.

  • Right-click the Start button and open Device Manager.
  • Expand Batteries.
  • Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop—Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

4. Generate a Battery Report

This gives a detailed look at battery performance.

  • Open Command Prompt as administrator.
  • Type: powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
  • Open the generated HTML file to review battery capacity and recent charge cycles.

5. Check for BIOS Updates

Outdated firmware can cause battery misreadings.

  • Restart and press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Check the BIOS version and compare it with the latest available online.
  • If needed, follow the update steps carefully.

If the battery test shows poor health or the report indicates it's not holding charge, it may be time to consider a replacement. I know that’s not ideal, but I’ll be right here to help you explore options or walk through any of these steps in more detail. Let’s get your laptop back to behaving the way it should!
