Hi @ygssingh

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Hi! Yes, you can use your HP Victus 15 while it is plugged in even when it’s 100% charged, but the behavior regarding bypass charging (also called pass-through charging) depends on your system and its configuration.

Does HP Victus 15 support bypass charging?

  • Bypass charging allows the laptop to draw power directly from the charger when plugged in, bypassing the battery entirely. This helps prolong the lifespan of the battery because it reduces the number of charge cycles.
  • For HP laptops, some models support a form of bypass charging, but not all do it automatically. HP's proprietary software (HP Command Center) often includes a setting to help with battery management, like Battery Health Management or Maximum Lifespan mode, which can prevent the battery from charging past a certain threshold (typically around 80%) to keep it from constantly being at 100% when plugged in.

However, the HP Victus 15 specifically may not have a dedicated bypass charging mode like some gaming laptops (e.g., Alienware). That said, when the laptop is plugged in at 100%, it typically just stops charging the battery, and power is drawn directly from the adapter. This effectively achieves the same outcome as bypass charging by not continuously charging the battery.

What happens when you leave it plugged in?

  • Battery Care: If you keep your laptop plugged in all the time, especially at 100%, it's generally not a huge concern for modern laptops. However, over time, heat generated during usage while plugged in can affect the long-term health of the battery.
  • Power Settings: Some HP laptops come with HP Battery Health Management software. It might reduce battery charging to a point lower than 100% to avoid wear. You can check this in the HP Command Center or BIOS to see if it has any settings that can help manage the battery's longevity.

Recommendations:

  • Keep an eye on temperature: If you’re gaming or performing intensive tasks while plugged in, ensure your laptop has proper ventilation, as heat can degrade the battery health over time.
  • Battery health management software: If your model includes it, enable the battery health management feature to manage charging and prevent constant full charges.

I hope this helps.
