I believe my laptop was hit with the HP BitLocker patch. How do I gain access to my laptop and can I save my data. Also since HP is taking full credit for the BitLocker are they replacing laptops?

Hi @CambridgeAutoma

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand your concern regarding the BitLocker situation. Thank you for sharing this with us. To guide you accurately, it will help to know the exact HP laptop model you are using and whether any recent firmware or BIOS updates were applied before the lock occurred. This detail is important to determine why the update was needed and how access can be restored.

Regarding your data, once we confirm the product details and the update history, we can advise on the available recovery options. As for replacement, HP’s support process typically focuses on resolving the issue through updates or recovery steps rather than replacing entire laptops. Still, I’d like to gather more information about your device so we can clarify the next steps.

Could you please share the model number of your laptop and confirm if you recall applying a BIOS or firmware update recently?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
