Confirm the Error Message
When you power on the notebook, do you see a message like:
“The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly.”
If yes, this typically indicates a hardware issue with the fan.
Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes, a hard reset can clear temporary hardware glitches.
- Turn off the notebook.
- Disconnect all external devices and unplug the power adapter.
- Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the notebook.
Check if the error persists.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
HP provides built-in diagnostics to test hardware components.
- Turn off the notebook.
- Press the Power button, then immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
