will i need need to purchase extra virus protection from a third part eg Norton, Mcafee for my new device operating windows 11

That depends a lot on your habits, if you download programs for example from the internet frequently from non-certified sites, in short your habits, I in particular only use windows Defender that comes integrated to windwos 11 and I don't need another antivirus.
