i del, reinstalled these files are missing help

These files (HPDSUExtension.inf and HPDSUSoftwareComponent.inf) are specific HP Desktop Support Utility driver components. When missing, applications like HP Support Assistant or HP Desktop Support Utilities will fail to install or run, generating dependency errors. [1, 2]

Hi @crapsucks,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Missing HPDSUExtension.inf and HPDSUSoftwareComponent.inf usually indicates that the HP Desktop Support Utility or its required driver components are not installed correctly. These INF files are HP software component and extension drivers that applications such as HP Support Assistant rely on to function properly.

Try the following steps:

  1. Install the latest HP Desktop Support Utility:

  2. Check Windows Update:

    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.

    • Windows Update may automatically install the required HP software component and extension drivers.

  3. Refresh the HP drivers:

    • Open Device Manager.

    • Select View > Show hidden devices.

    • Expand Software components.

    • If any HP device shows a warning icon, right-click it and select Update driver. If needed, uninstall the device, then restart the PC to allow Windows to reinstall the driver.

If the issue persists, please let us know your HP product model and Windows version so we can provide the correct driver package.

Take care and have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
