Hi @LouiseRochon.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

TPM-WMI Event ID 1796 in Windows Event Viewer can be associated with a failure while applying a Secure Boot update to the system firmware. To identify the cause and determine the appropriate troubleshooting steps, could you please provide the following details?

What is your exact HP laptop or desktop model?

Are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11?

Are you experiencing any other issues, such as unexpected restarts, BitLocker recovery prompts, or Windows Update errors, or is this event appearing only in Event Viewer?

Open Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System, double-click the TPM-WMI Event ID 1796 entry, and share the complete message from the General tab, including any error code.

In the meantime, you can check for applicable BIOS and firmware updates for your specific model through HP Software and Driver Downloads.

Please avoid clearing the TPM or changing Secure Boot settings until we identify the specific error, as these actions can affect BitLocker and other security features.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
