Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (771S6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

hello
i bought this victus laptop 5 months ago , last two weeks i had a problem
I noticed something strange. The temperature of my processor (i7 13th gen) reaches about 50-55 degrees Celsius in idle mode. When I downloaded the FanSpeed program, I found that it shows the speed of fan 1 is about 2000 rpm, and the speed of fan 2 is about 214 rpm. So, what could be the problem?
Also, before this problem occurred, something happened. I was playing PES 2019 and paused the match. I unplugged the laptop for a while (the battery was at 100% at the time) and exited the game, but it was still running in the background. The fan noise suddenly became very loud. As soon as the battery reached 80%, the laptop shut down. I tried to turn it on again, but it wouldn't turn on until I plugged in the charger (the battery percentage was 80% when it shut down, and when it turned on again, it was 100%). I unplugged the charger again, and the laptop shut down again. I plugged in the charger, left it for a while, and then turned it on. It turned on normally, but the battery was at 100%. Ever since that incident, I've been having the problem I described earlier.

Hi @Midoo0,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you are experiencing fan and battery related issues with your HP Victus 15.6-inch gaming laptop.

Here are some steps and solutions you can try to address these problems.

Update BIOS and Drivers

Ensure that your BIOS and all device drivers are up to date. HP often releases updates to improve fan control and system stability.

  • BIOS Update: Check the HP support website for the latest BIOS update for your model.
  • Drivers Update: Use HP Support Assistant or visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers, especially for the chipset and thermal management.

Check Power Settings

Sometimes, power settings can influence how the fans operate.

  • Power Plan: Set your power plan to 'Balanced' rather than 'High Performance' when you are not gaming. This can reduce the workload on your CPU and GPU, resulting in less heat and fan usage.
  • Advanced Power Settings: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings. Adjust the settings for Processor power management to reduce the maximum processor state to 80-90%.

Thermal Management Settings

HP laptops often come with thermal management software that allows you to control the cooling settings.

  • HP Command Center: If your laptop has HP Command Center, use it to adjust the thermal profile. Setting it to 'Comfort' or 'Quiet' can reduce fan noise.

Clean the Fans and Vents

Dust accumulation can cause the fans to work harder and produce more noise.

  • Clean the Fans: Carefully clean the fans and air vents using compressed air. Ensure the laptop is turned off and disconnected from power before cleaning.

Monitor Temperatures

Using software like HWMonitor or Core Temp, keep an eye on your system temperatures. If temperatures are unusually high, it may indicate a cooling issue or excessive background processes.

Adjust Fan Settings in BIOS

Although you mentioned turning off the fans in BIOS, some BIOS settings might still influence fan behavior.

  • Fan Control: Recheck the BIOS settings for fan control options. Some BIOS versions allow for detailed fan speed adjustments or silent mode settings.

Use External Cooling Solutions

If the internal cooling system remains noisy, consider using an external laptop cooling pad. This can help reduce internal fan usage by providing additional cooling from the outside.

By following these steps, you should be able to reduce the noise and improve the fan behavior of your HP Victus gaming laptop.

If this solution hit the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,
