@chandra_07,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Thank you for sharing your concern. Heat issues — especially in hotter, dustier climates like India — are very common for slim convertible laptops like the HP Pavilion x360 series. Let’s go through some key things you can check and do:

🔹 1. Environment Factors:

  • High room temperature (above 30°C) can cause laptops to heat up faster.

  • Dust inside the vents and fans can block airflow, causing overheating even when doing light tasks.

🔹 2. First Checks You Can Do:

  • Feel the vent areas — is hot air coming out? If not, the fan might be blocked or dirty.

  • Listen for fan noise — if it's very quiet or sounds weird, the fan might not be working properly.

  • Check background apps in Task Manager — heavy apps or too many startup programs can keep the CPU busy even when you "just turn it on."

🔹 3. Quick Fixes to Try:

  • Clean the vents gently using compressed ("canned") air or a soft brush (carefully, from outside the laptop).

  • Elevate the back of the laptop slightly to improve airflow.

  • Use HP Support Assistant to run a hardware diagnostics test (especially the "Thermal" test).

  • Update BIOS and drivers — sometimes thermal management is improved in newer BIOS versions.

🔹 4. Longer-Term Solutions:

  • Consider using a cooling pad — they really help in hot climates!

  • If cleaning and updates don’t help, the thermal paste (between CPU and heatsink) may have dried out — a service technician can replace it.

  • If the laptop is still under warranty, HP Service Center should clean and reapply cooling solutions professionally.

Summary:

  • Dust + High temperature = very common cause.

  • Start by cleaning vents and checking software loads.

  • If needed, professional cleaning or re-pasting will solve it.

Kind Regards,
