Hi @ZalaKamlesh,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your down arrow key on the HP laptop isn’t working, it could be a hardware issue, a driver problem, or a software setting. Let’s troubleshoot step by step:

1. Check for Physical Issues

  • Gently press the key multiple times to ensure it’s not stuck.
  • Use compressed air to clean around the key.
  • If the key feels loose or doesn’t click, the keyboard may need repair.

2. Test in BIOS

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc → F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Try using the down arrow key in BIOS menus.
    • If it works in BIOS, it’s a Windows/software issue.
    • If it doesn’t: It’s a hardware problem.

3. Update Keyboard Driver

  • Press Windows + X → Device Manager → Keyboards.
  • Right-click Standard PS/2 KeyboardUpdate driver.
  • Restart your laptop.

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart and press F2 repeatedly → Component Tests → Keyboard Test.
  • This will confirm if the key is physically failing.

5. Use On-Screen Keyboard (Temporary Fix)

  • Press Windows + Ctrl + O to enable the on-screen keyboard.
