Hey @GrocerJim,
Thank you for your response
Enable Keyboard Backlight in BIOS (If Disabled)
Sometimes, the backlight can be turned off in the BIOS settings. Here's how you can check that:
Restart your laptop.
During startup, press ESC or F10 to enter the BIOS settings.
Look for an option related to the keyboard backlight, such as "Action Keys," "Keyboard Backlight," or similar.
If it's off, toggle it to On.
Save changes and exit BIOS.
Check HP Support assistant
Search for HP Support Assistant in the Start menu.
Open the app and see if it has a keyboard backlight setting that you can adjust.
Update Keyboard Drivers
Sometimes outdated drivers can cause issues. Try updating the keyboard driver:
Go to Device Manager.
Expand the Keyboards section and right-click on your keyboard, then select Update driver.
Check Power Settings
If your laptop is on a power-saving mode, the backlight may turn off to save battery. Check your power settings:
Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
Make sure it's not set to extreme battery-saving modes that might disable the keyboard backlight.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
