@gamester789, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

I understand you're trying to load CD-ROM drivers for an HP laptop using VirtualBox. Here's how you can resolve this:

If you're running a virtual machine (VM) and want it to access the host's CD/DVD drive or an ISO image, follow these steps:

Option 1: Use Physical CD/DVD Drive

  1. Open VirtualBox and select your VM.
  2. Click Settings > Storage.
  3. Under Controller: IDE, click the Empty disk icon.
  4. On the right, click the disk icon next to "Optical Drive" and choose:
    • Host Drive [D:] (or whatever your CD/DVD drive letter is).
  5. Click OK and start the VM.

This will mount your laptop’s physical CD/DVD drive to the VM.

Option 2: Use ISO File Instead

If you have a driver CD as an ISO file:

  1. Go to Settings > Storage in VirtualBox.
  2. Under Controller: IDE, click the Empty disk icon.
  3. Click the disk icon on the right and choose Choose a disk file…
  4. Browse to your ISO file and select it.
  5. Click OK and start the VM.

This mounts the ISO as a virtual CD-ROM inside the VM.

Additional Tips

  • Make sure Guest Additions are installed in the VM for better hardware integration.
  • If you're trying to install HP-specific drivers, you can download them directly from HP Support: Official HP® Support

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
