@staceyijaola, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be when your cursor disappears, let’s get that fixed for you.

Here are a few steps you can try to bring your cursor back:

Step 1: Check if the Touchpad is Disabled

Sometimes the touchpad gets disabled accidentally.

  1. Press Fn + F5, F6, or F7 (the exact key varies by model, look for a key with a touchpad icon).
  2. If that doesn’t work, try double-tapping the top-left corner of the touchpad, this is a common toggle on HP notebooks.

Step 2: Use Device Manager to Re-enable the Touchpad

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  3. Right-click on your touchpad device (e.g., Synaptics, ELAN, or HID-compliant mouse) and choose Enable device if available.
  4. If already enabled, try Update driver.

Step 3: Check Mouse Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
  2. Make sure the touchpad is turned On.

Step 4: External Mouse Test

Try plugging in a USB mouse. If it works, the issue is likely with the touchpad settings or driver.

Step 5: Update or Reinstall Touchpad Driver

You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support Website - Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support

  1. Enter your notebook model.
  2. Go to the Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices section.
  3. Download and install the latest touchpad driver.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
