@i07, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP laptop not showing a shutdown menu!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like your laptop might have a misconfigured power menu or some system issue preventing proper shutdown options. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check Power Options in Settings
- Press Win + R, type powercfg.cpl, and hit Enter.
- Click Choose what the power buttons do from the left panel.
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable (if applicable).
- Ensure Shutdown, Restart, and Sleep options are enabled.
- Click Save changes and check if they appear in the Start menu.
Run Power Troubleshooter
- Open Settings (Win + I) → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters.
- Scroll down and run the Power troubleshooter.
Restart Windows Explorer
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Find Windows Explorer, right-click it, and select Restart.
- Check if the shutdown menu appears.
Check Group Policy Settings
- Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and hit Enter (only on Pro editions).
- Navigate to User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Start Menu and Taskbar.
- Look for Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands.
- Double-click it and set it to Not Configured or Disabled.
Let me know if this works!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
