@i07, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP laptop not showing a shutdown menu!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like your laptop might have a misconfigured power menu or some system issue preventing proper shutdown options. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Power Options in Settings

  1. Press Win + R, type powercfg.cpl, and hit Enter.
  2. Click Choose what the power buttons do from the left panel.
  3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable (if applicable).
  4. Ensure Shutdown, Restart, and Sleep options are enabled.
  5. Click Save changes and check if they appear in the Start menu.

Run Power Troubleshooter

  1. Open Settings (Win + I) → SystemTroubleshootOther troubleshooters.
  2. Scroll down and run the Power troubleshooter.

Restart Windows Explorer

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  2. Find Windows Explorer, right-click it, and select Restart.
  3. Check if the shutdown menu appears.

Check Group Policy Settings

  1. Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and hit Enter (only on Pro editions).
  2. Navigate to User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Start Menu and Taskbar.
  3. Look for Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands.
  4. Double-click it and set it to Not Configured or Disabled.

Let me know if this works!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
