@tom697, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

I understand you're seeing a paper jam error on your HP ENVY Photo 6255, even though the jam has been cleared. This issue can sometimes be caused by residual paper bits, sensor misalignment, or firmware glitches. Let's walk through a few steps to resolve it:

Power Reset the Printer

A simple reset can clear false error messages.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn on the printer.

Check if the error clears.

Inspect All Paper Paths Thoroughly

Even tiny scraps of paper can trigger the jam sensor.

  • Open the input tray, output tray, and rear access door.
  • Remove any paper or debris.
  • Use a flashlight to inspect inside the printer, especially near the rollers.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers

Dust or residue on rollers can cause feeding issues.

  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Gently clean the rollers accessible from the rear and input tray.
  • Let them dry for 10 minutes before powering on.

Check for Sensor Obstructions

Sometimes the jam sensor gets stuck or dirty.

  • Open the rear access door and gently move the rollers.
  • Look for any stuck levers or sensors.
  • Clean with a dry cotton swab if needed.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause persistent error messages.

  • Visit: Official HP® Support
  • Enter your printer model: HP ENVY Photo 6255
  • Download and install the latest firmware for Windows 11.

Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults (if needed)

If all else fails, a factory reset may help.

This will erase custom settings like Wi-Fi credentials.

  • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
