Hi @TROC66,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how frustrating it is when your HP printer insists there's a paper jam even after you've checked every nook and cranny and found nothing. You're not alone in this, and I’m here to help you gently guide your printer back to normal.

Let’s walk through the recommended steps to resolve this issue. These steps are designed to address both real and false paper jam errors

Step-by-Step Fix for “Paper Jam” When There’s No Paper

  1. Check for Hidden Obstructions
Use a flashlight and gently inspect all paper paths: input tray, output tray, rear access, and cartridge area. Even tiny scraps of paper or dust can trigger the jam sensor.

  2. Remove and Reinsert Cartridges
Open the cartridge access door, remove the cartridges, wait for 2 minutes, and then reinsert them. This can reset the print head carriage and clear false errors.

  3. Clean the Paper Feed Rollers
Dust and paper fibers on the rollers can confuse the sensors. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean them gently.

  4. Reset the Printer
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
    • Wait for 60 seconds.
    • Plug it back in and turn it on.

  5. Inspect the Sensors
If the issue persists, the jam sensor might be dirty or misaligned. Carefully inspect the area around the rollers and carriage for anything unusual.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
