Hi @iamgreek,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear your HP ENVY 34" All-in-One is running slowly, and that HP Support Assistant won't start. Let's go through a few steps to address both the performance issue and get Support Assistant working:
Step 1: Fix HP Support Assistant
Let’s get that working first—it’s useful for diagnostics and updates.
Try Reinstalling HP Support Assistant:
- Uninstall the current version:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
- Find HP Support Assistant, click Uninstall.
- Download the latest version:
- Visit the official HP page: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support.
- Download and install it.
- Restart your PC and try launching it again.
Step 2: Improve System Performance
✅ Check Startup Programs
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Go to the Startup tab.
- Disable unnecessary apps (right-click > Disable).
✅ Run Disk Cleanup
- Press Win + S, type Disk Cleanup, and open it.
- Select your system drive (usually C:).
- Check all boxes (especially Temporary files, System files) and click OK.
✅ Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates.
✅ Run System File Checker
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Type: sfc /scannow
- Press Enter and wait for it to complete.
Optional: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly, then F2.
- Run a System Test or Component Test (especially memory and storage).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
