Poly Voyager Surround 85

I got a replacement headset for my aging Plantronics this week, Poly Voyager Surround 85. However, I'm having a bit of an issue pairing it and subsequently reconnecting to it after being away from it.

Pairing with my phone results in:

"Couldn't pair with Poly Vsurround 85 because of an incorrect PIN or passkey"

But there is no PIN/passkey prompt, neither manually or through the pop-up pairing menu.

At first, I reset my Bluetooth/Wifi-settings, despite this being a giant PITA because of all the wifi networks and devices I lose, but I thought it was a one time thing to get this headset paired. Much to my dismay, the next day, the headset wouldn't connect, no matter what I tried. I tried resetting my BT/Wifi settings again, and this worked. But I cannot continue like this, surely this isn't normal? I've reset the headphones several times.

My mobile phone is a Moto Edge 30 Pro, updated apps and Android 14

Hello. What kind of details do you want?

The headsest does not reconnect when turning off Bluetooth and then on again. It tries to use the new method of connecting, but just fails repeatedly. I've managed to find a workaround that doesn't require resetting Wifi/Bluetooth, if I first forget the headset in the Bluetooth settings, then put my phone in flight mode and back off, I can manually reconnect. I thought it might be the new method that was causing issues, but I bought a pair of Bluetooth earbuds this weekend and they work flawlessly with the new method.

PC connection is not an issue at all. Only mobile. I have to do the forget device -> airplane mode -> turn on headset and put in pairing mode -> pair with phone if I've been out of the Bluetooth range of my phone or headset.
